Sure you can just armor strip everything or stack Saryn buffs and onehit enemies with a barely modded Skana, but shit weapons standing alone still struggle a lot, while you can absolutely just bring meta weapons on an Inaros prime and onehit entire crowds.Ī good Riven still ends up increasing dps by well over 100% on bad weapons, not to mention all the possible utility buffs like higher crit->more Hunter Munition procs and more reliability, saving mod space on weapons that need band-aid mods, much needed attack speed or similar.
There are many weapons that rely on Rivens in order to be competitive or even usable outside the star chart. Oh boy, I sure love only doing a fraction of my damage 50% of the time! Or try using Sniper Rifles that can't even hit 100% crit without a Riven against an Eidolon or similar. A good Riven cuts the time to kill by 2/3.

Even with the full Arcane buff and Galvanized mods, killing a single Elite Lancer is already painful. I dare you to use a Lato Vandal without Riven in a Steel Path Grineer Survival without frame buffs or debuffs.
